This film chronicles the plight of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse who seek legal redress against their abusers. In their own words, survivors describe their individual journeys to obtain justice and the impediments that obstructed their paths. Their stories shine a much-needed light on the shameful secret that despite the child sex abuse epidemic in this country, our legal system too often re-traumatizes survivors, curtails their legal rights, and allows their abusers to walk free. The film also features interviews with experts in the field who collectively weigh in on the fundamental flaws in the system and recommend needed reforms. The film breaks new ground by raising serious questions about the legal process’s response to survivors’ cases and addressing necessary systemic changes.
